Speaker Baffles Choking Sound?

I have been trying to improve the sq of my system. After doing some research I decided to use B-Quiet ultimate on the 4 doors to make them more of an enclosure. One of the guys at the local stereo shop suggested I also try some foam speaker baffles. I figured I'd give it a try so today I spent a good chunk of the day deadening one of my doors, and installing the foam baffle.

I decided to give them a listen to compare. I shut off the subs and rear door speakers and compared the two fronts. The speaker that I did today with the baffle and deadened door sounds quite a bit worse and has less mid bass than the one just sitting in the other door with no baffle or deadening. Also, at high volume it craps out before the other one does.

I am thinking that it is being choked in this foam baffle - that it's far too small of an enclosure for the speaker. Am I thinking along the right lines?

I tried baffles once and had the same results so I dicarded them , the Bquiet will help your sq espescialy at higher volumes when door panels and other things in the doors start to sing along because of resonance .

If your door does not leak, I don't recommend foamies. You are correct about them being restriced by the volume of the foamie.

Thanks for the replies! My doors do get a bit wet inside so I am going to try cutting out the bottom half of the baffles. I'll let you know how it sounds.

l had jl coaxial with an enclosure and air would get sqeezed through the cone.
made them free air problem gone. anything that would absorb water should stay out of doors.
also try using a flexible air tight gasket between the speaker and enclosure, so the sound is not transfered to the door.
