SQ AMP -- A/B vs D
So I need an amp which is one ohm stable, and around 1000w RMS, any suggestions. I will be running one IDMAX12D2 and would like the cleanest sound possible. I believe a class a/b amp would have better sq then a class d. Any Help or Suggestions?
You will not hear a difference between good quality D-class vs AB-class amps.
A DLS A6 would be a great choice (but that is only one in a very long list of good choices which will depend on price, style, physical dimensions, options needed).

From an efficiency standpoint the class D has greater potential for 'SQ' IMO.
given two 1000 watt amps the one that pulls less current will generally equate to less V drop in the system and more overall headroom...
With a beefed up electrical system it might not matter, though...

Here is a flip side to the story. A "D" class amp is generally max output at 1 ohm, where current draw is far higher than at 4 ohm for a comparable amp. Any amp operating at 1 ohm, also has had the amps damping factor (the ability of the amp to control the motion of the driver), thrown out the window as compared to 4 ohm. If I was this person and wanted one single amp, it would be a monster 2 channel class AB bridged to 4 ohm.
Damping factor needed is subject to the listener. Some may not like an amp with a high damping factor especially on the subwoofer.
But since you brought it up; the DLS A6 that I recommended has an average damping factor of 1913 at 4ohm and even when brought down to 1ohm is still much much higher than most class AB's out there.
