If there is a person or persons that would like to compete in SQ and SPL please PM me. If your willing to drive down to my place I will help you build your SQL system. I have a few other cars I need to finish first, but I will be ready in late spring for another car. I live in Cambridge for those that are close enough.
But in order for this to work, you will need to be flexible as far as trunk space and budget are considered. Could be fun?

Didn't you hit 121 with your sub at the last comp?
You guys can disagree with this all you want and encourage consumers into your shop to pay you thousands to make a good SQL setup but a sealed will sound better than a ported very often and again SQL is not just loud and SQ but trying to compete in SPL and SQ with the same sub and a 8" lacking up front. I'll keep an eye out for all the 3rd and 4th place SQL guys at the competitions. JohnVroom pretty much summed it up, you can't use a sub for SQ competitions and SPL at the same time and expect to win in both.
Sealed boxes must be a waste of time according to you guys since ported is louder and better.

I don't know of anyone that has replied to this thread that owns a shop.. Fozzz does some work out of his house, and is an acomplished Iasca competitor, but he does not own a shop, at least not to my knowledge.
Most die hard sq lovers prefer the sound of an IB setup over anything else.
why you are gumming off about anything is beyond me, your post's don't even make sense, and you are arguing with yourself!
Talk is cheap, as I told "Brandon" a while ago, if you think your car is the shiznit, then prove it.. and if it is, than so be it! There will be lots of use guys floating around the scene this year so saddle up and bring what ya got! do your talking with your system, not your keyboard!
See you soon!

I will only mention this once since it smacks of self promotion but MECA is founded on competitors doing SQ and SPL, our big trophy at every show is for the Best Of The Best for the guy or gal that excels at SPL and SQ at that show.
Sure most do SQ or SPL but quite a few (~10 to 20% do both) with some being more successful than others, but since MECA is not in Canada...

The SPL of full range SQ will seldom exceed 115db and even then that will hurt your ears
I am a fan of ported and sealed with sealed being superior for the lazy man. There are significant rewards with using ported enclosures with volume and dynamics, sealed 'should' do well with box volume, power handling and low end extension
