Sql 101
gumby is right about me not owning a shop. I have a nice tripple car garage though! And lot of woodworking tools.
I'm willing to build a system for anyone interested in truly doing SQL or just SQ for that matter. I have since moved on to IB for my personal car. It works very well for me. I have lost some SPL switching to IB but I've won Two IASCA SQ World Championships, so it must sound ok to someone! My ears can't take SPL anymore, I must be getting old!

anything over 100db for extended time will eventually caus you to go deaf!!! You say Huh?? I said Deaf!!! many iasca guys can hit upwards of 130db with their subs only playing up to 40 hz..
I would love to hear a car that still has proper tonal balace, imaging, and where the stage isn't being pulled behind you at 140-150 DB , I find it very hard to believe that such a thing exists! Most sq guys are running there subs up to 40 hz and the mid takes it from there, to get 140 db out of that you would need a shitload of power, and cone area. This is why I think your definition of sq is different than mine!

I won the worlds twice with 139.9 (3-10s) and 141.3 (2-15s)termlab and 143.6 the audiocontrol pressure sensor.
And I did it with freeair subs! And in the 600 watt class. It can be done, just plan out the system, and really undersatnd what you are trying to do...

exactly what he said, the last sentance that is.
Those are great scores and that is loud but I was saying you wouldn't win any SPL competitions doing 141.3 with 2 x 15s and if you geared your system to win SPL with the 2 x 15s you wouldn't do very well in the sub portion of the SQ.
^ I'm not sure what you are attempting to argue. When did the definition of SQL become being able to win at both SPL and SQ at the same time? IIRC, Mark F. was the last to achieve that goal.
Aside from you, the other 5billion people on this planet generally use the term SQL to refer to a good sounding car that pounds.

Thats exactly what my aim is going to be with my next system.
Just gotta scope out all the subs out there now.
I thought the world ended at Infinity, Alpines and JLs. And now that I'm on this site, I'm hearing about REs, Pis and others.
Whats the best SQ sub out there? Doesnt matter about SPL, I'll just put 2 or 3 of them in there. I don't know if this is thread hijacking!!!
