use the largest size wire that will fit in your amp terminal if you're really serious. no weak links
you wont notice a difference between power cable and speaker cable as your power wires
when using a mono amp sometimes its easier to have a single 4 gauge for instance + and - running to dist blocks then short runs of 8 gauge to the coil. but the more joints in the wire the more possible chance of resistance being induced.
best bet in my opinion is to run the largest wire you can fit straight from amp to coil

why would you go with 12 speaker wire where i can use 8g power wire
form amp to speaker (1 amp to 1 VC )
Here's an interesting page concerning different types of speaker wires (e.g. - tinned, solid strand, silver, etc. etc.) and their apparent "differences", or lack thereof:
Speaker Wire
Speaker Wire
Try it you'll like it
I suppose I could try to enlighten you about how various types of cable provide for different results, but would that prompt you to try it yourself?
So.., to avoid re-discovering this issue again (I know it's been discussed on this forum several times over), why don't you simply try to use the same gauge of speaker cable, and if you don't hear the results, I'd suggest Q-Tips.
Makes one wonder why there are so many different varieties of cable out there.., hmm

High strand, wire with a good dialetric can make a difference. Brand X 12 gauge may actually perform better than brand Y 8 guage power. Especially these days with the changes in copper prices, there are far greater differences now than ever between speaker and power wires.

Anyways, I compared copper to copper and claimed no difference, now you want to bring in wire that has a significant amount of non-copper. Resistance is about the only audibly noticable factor in wire, so of course if you increase the resistance you'll get a audible level difference. If you use sufficient gauge
for the run and power levels where's the difference?
I've done my own listening tests and I sincerly doubt you can tell the difference between a reasonable quality power wire and speaker wire, let alone different speaker wires. But, if you want to spend your money on expensive braided-nut-hair-from-god wire, have at it. However, in a true ABX test I'd put 10 feet of 12g zip cord up against anything.
But, this has been done to death. No doubt you'll continue to think we're tone deaf on this side, and we'll continue to think that you're the proverbial fools who are soon parted from their money.
