Is it just me, or do the NX30 tweeters that come with the ID cxs component sets sound great? Very smooth sounding and detailed, didn't find them harsh at all..

Anyone else have feedback on these tweeters?

Aparently, from what I've heard, Focal is supposed to be using a version of the Berillium's in the new Utopia sets.

I know we were kinda joking about this a while back, but I've got this from a reliable source. If it happens, I'll be picking up a set. I do like the TN51 but that Berillium will be a very hard tweeter to beat.

Yes there is a plan to introduce a car audio kit with Berylium tweeters. My sources say it's a little ways off time wise, but it will be called the Master Utopia. It will be a 2 way with a 6.5" midbass driver, and a super high end passive X.O. with true bi-amp capability.

The price that I've heard quoted is in the $5,000 range. My guess is that they will be introduced at next year's CES.

Start saving...

The only other 2 way product in that price range would be from Rainbow if you can't wait.

Yea, but will they even sound close to the berilliums? I doubt it...I've only heard the platinums so far though..not bad...not berilliums though.

What would be REALLY sweet is if they made a set with berilliums and the Audiom 6W driver

I guess it depends on who you talk to Mark. Kimon might use one term, and Larry might use another. Either way, you've got some competition.

What I find really interesting, is that to support such a product, the industry has to sell higher end everything for a car system. I know that people get excited about insanely exotic products, but the reality of the situation is that they simply draw attention to lower priced product lines made by the same manufacturer. Berylium tweeters may be fantastic, but who's to say that they work "Off Axis" well.

3 key parts to driver construction:

1.) Design
2.) Materials
3.) Fabrication Technology

Berylium is a fraction of the material used in a driver, and the material is only a fraction of the end result.

Personally, I get more excited about fabrication technology than materials.

Diaphram technology in general is the last great frontier of driver design.
