a single 13w7 will take as much power as a pair of idmax's. the w7 is a better driver in almost every aspect. efficiency on the max is good though and they work well IB, but other than that the w7 simply owns the max....

all i can say is that im pretty excited for he new alpine type x, interested to se if the hype about them is worth it, they will be here teusday or wednesday, at which point 2 will be broken in and immediately put in my neon for evaluation, i have only heard a w7 once, adn was horribly dissappointed, i was expecting this great deep bass with massive deep bass output and heard a woofer that had no attack was really non linear, aka really needed to get on it to get any output, very non linear at low volume, now having said that, i have only heard one, in a sealed box, in a mustang gt, early 90's, power by a mtx2300 amp i think it was, and wont base a final opinion based on one system, especially withh all the good stuff i hear about them, as for the id max ive never listened to one so i cant say, but if i were to base my opinion on company reputation alone, jl audio would be my choice, but i would never base a final opinion on reputation alone, id have to listen
I've compared my IDMAX and Christian's (PLOW's) 10W7. My 12 is in a tester box that's roughly 0.8 cuft. Maybe even less... certainly not ideal. Christians W7 I had in my car for a couple weeks was in a big ported box that Kriston made (or was it Travis?). Anyhow, the 10W7 did require much more power under the conditions, but I've never heard a deeper sounding 10. Oddly enough though, the 10 still didn't manage to get as deep as the MAX and the MAX did sound tighter. Obviously, the boxes had much to do with it, but this was the only comparison I managed to get. Hahahaha... overall, I think the W7's will take more power... but then again, I've never really seen how far a MAX can go and I get nervous pushing mine too far. Comparing mine with Marco's 13 though... hahahahaha... there's no comparison in spl. The 13W7 blows the MAX away! It is LOUD. For SQ though... I dunno if ported is the way to go for those W7's.
