Thrill_House - you wanted opinions on your setup. You got them and then argued them. Your tone is quite confrontational.
I don't know Hardwrkr other than here but he seems to know his stuff and I do know Sawnicxs and his history and your little diatribe above to him is downright funny. Put it this way - he was a hardcore competitor long before you hit high school..
The point is - you got opinions. Good or bad, that's all they were. My opinion is that you're overboard on your charging system too, but hey, it's not my money..

Ok, sorry I got a little upset there guys. Im guess im just a little touchy because once I find I setup I like I prefer to stick with it. I decided though to dump the extra battery and just run the Optima with the H.O. alt and Batcap. I do appreciate all the advice you guys have given me, you are a very smart bunch and I just hope that you accept my appology as I dont want to be on your bad sides.
Welll.... here's my $0.02 to add to the heap.
Are you depending on the Alpine for all system EQ and X-Over? It is a nice deck.... but the first time the battery goes dead, won't it forget everything it knows? I'd personally toss in one of either the new Audio Control digital thingies. Probably much more flexible in regards to EQ points and XO points.
The components should be nice.... I'd look into kicks personally. Or, leave the woofers in the door, and up to a 4" mid and tweet in the kicks. Better soundstage, gets the upper mid off the doors and up in the air more. That far of a between the tweeter and woofer (tweet up high, cone in the door) may be interesting as far as imaging goes. Might have a few holes. May not... this is just my opinion.
Nice sub... meaty, well designed.... has a great feel factor. Pretty efficient too. Good choice.
As far as 10ga speaker wire and such.... well, it's your money. 14ga is plenty.... copper is copper, yadda yadda blah blah. The only thing I'd be concerned with the Monster cable stuff is it is home wire.... which doesen't like to flex at all for the most part if it is the least bit cold out. Not an issue if this car is not winter driven. The beefy alternator is a good idea... the wee little thing Honda puts on there from the factory is barely enough to run the car with headlights and accessories going.... adding a solid 50A draw in addition is going to make for a short lifespan. 2 batteries is great for extended key off listening. Of course, a quality deep cycle will also do wonders. Be it up front, or in the back, whatever.... I'd run it in the back, and use the OEM battery location for something interesting. A diorama, system diagram, distribution for the factory stuff under the hood, etc. Dunno the function of a Batcap (old... don't keep up on this new fangled methods for 12V power supply.... current is still current. If it isn't there in the first place, it doesen't come out of thin air)
There's my opinion..... ye ask, and ye shall recieve....
Gus

Well that's a better attitude! As far as the SVA alternator; I have a 180 amp in my car from Ray Knight also, it made a huge difference once I upgraded the big 3 and put a new battery in. It now has more than enough juice for the 1200 watts in the car. By the way, Ray is a very cool guy that's easy to deal with.

http://i-personalize.alpine.com/nam/index.html
I don't know if it works with your deck , but I tried the i-personalize out for my 9833 and it works good
basically you can put in all your crossover and custom eq setings along with all the measurements for your spkrs and it sets up a file with all your time delay settings and the eq and crossover settings you put in
then you just burn the settings onto a disc and you can load em up onto your deck any time you want in one easy step
worked not bad .......
I still wanna dump that eyesore alpine calls a 9833 though and get an x889 ........
