2005 magnum/boston premium audio problems

Ok sooooo this is my problem...my magnum stock stereo will rarely let me change cd's it has no aux input so i use an fm transmitter witch does not work well....so i went out to walmart and bought a deck....cant hook it up...after like 2 days of searching apparently i need some canbus thing? i went to an audio place and he told me 180 for this harness or something....thats more than the deck ...anyway does this mean buying this harness will be a waste of money if i decide to get soem subs and an amp in the future...if i am correct this canbus thing bypasses the factory amp?.....do i have a factory amp?........all i wanted was something that worked better than this stock stereo now it is becoming a hastle.....can i not just find the wires that lead to the speakers?......the only way that the head unit or whatever can get power is from the cigarette lighter...any suggestions?

Yep, you do

i went to an audio place and he told me 180 for this harness or something.... that sounds pretty much dead on

thats more than the deck ...should buy a more expensive deck

anyway does this mean buying this harness will be a waste of money if i decide to get soem subs and an amp in the future... nope, not at all

if i am correct this canbus thing bypasses the factory amp?..... it would usually help retain the factory amplifier if it has one

do i have a factory amp?........ there's a good possibility of that

all i wanted was something that worked better than this stock stereo now it is becoming a hastle..... you might be better off returning the walmart deck, and heading into an audio shop and get them to look after everything. It may cost more but you can be assured it will be done RIGHT

can i not just find the wires that lead to the speakers?...... I'm afraid it's not usually that easy any more. Hopefully someone with a bit more experience with the Magnum will chime in to help a bit more

the only way that the head unit or whatever can get power is from the cigarette lighter...any suggestions? huh???

Going to take a step back here. Electronics in vehicles have come a long long way over the years, and the radio is no exception. When we replace them sometimes it might be as easy as running a new accessory line for the aftermarket radio, sometimes its a hell of a lot more complicated than that. Thus a module that has been designed for the task. There's always a correct tool for a job, and that CANBUS interface is the one in this scenario.
