amp and sub problem

just put a customers amp (alpine mrdm100) into a 06 pontiac g6. i did the amp high level using a sven2 adaptor and got my speaker leads at the factory amp in the trunk. when i turn up the stereo the sub has no control and it pops and farts. i tried re grounding the amp butit still doesnt work. ive tried ever last thing i can think of. im stummped.. any suggestions?

No offense but I would hope the install manager at the shop I bring my vehicle to would know WTF he is doing...

pops & farts = shorting signal path in my experinece...

hey buddy i dont need any flack from you. i obviously know what im doing i just havent came across this problem before and i have exausted everything i know... thats why i came here to see if anyone else has any suggestions.

try working the Genes on the amp

or try a new amp the amp maybe bad

try a new sub

check to see if one of the sets of speaker wires you hooked up on the level converter is out of phase, that might be your problem. easy way to check is pull out one rca lead if it gets louder, reverse the wiring on one of the speaker leads.

figured it out. the rear speakers have to inputs one for the woofer and one for the tweeter i figured the wires would have been the dark and light blue but that was for the tweeter the right colors were a blue/black and green black

perfect colour vision

(BTW Blue and green wires are for SQ, black and red for SPL)

Thanks for sharing tyler.....despite what the peanut gallery says, I appreciate you enlightening me on how NOT to do it wrong....reminds me to NEVER try to use a stock deck with a sub.....I only see RED when I've tried that.

Glad to hear you saved the deal anyways.
