I have an Alpine 9815 and it has always worked fine. I took my amps out of my car, then put them back in the next day. I went into work and when I went out, my battery was dead.

I checked and my amps are not turning off. I disconnected the REM and the amps shut off.

Does this mean my deck is faulty? or is there something I should look for?

Thanks,
Craig G

Sounds like your getting power through your remote wire when the car is off.. Test the remote lead with a tester and see if there is power coming from it. Very well could be the relay in the deck has just stuck and leaving that wire live.

An Easy fix is to just have a shop wire a relay for ya, its not a difficult job.

What would tell the relay to turn on and off?

Thanks,

Sounds like the remote trace on the Printed Circuit Board, lifted. If you have more that 2 components being triggered by the remote lead, you should consider using a relay to trigger the amps from the remote lead(once it's repaired).

Just a positive feed of energy (live Wire) will trigger the relay. With the proper relay (Can't think of the name of it) you can run a wire straight off your fuse panel which is only live when the ignition is on.

The Proper relay would have 4 connectors on it, Same type you would use if you were dealing with 2 different voltages, therefore you minimize it picking up noise from the ignition system as it will not be sharing a ground.

just tap your 12v switched wire behind the deck, put a relay on it, wire the relay to your amps, atleast then theyll only turn on when your key is in the On/Acc positions. Turn the car off they turn off.

The only downside to this method is that the amps turn on regardless of your faceplate being on your cd player or not... but as long as theyre only on when the car is on then who cares?

if you turn on your amps off your ignition you will likely get turn on/off thumps in your system...i would get the deck repaired..should only be 50-60 bucks

Ya I'm gonna take it in, cause it's still under warranty. Seems like the best option. Plus my old deck had a blown REM and for the past 4 years I have run my amps off the ACC and I was all pumped to have the REM working finally with this new deck lol.

Thanks everyone,
Craig G

Depends on how good the amps muting circuit is really, my old Kenwood would thump no matter what.. my mtxs dont thump at all (which is funny because the 500d/6500d are supposed to be loud turning on and off). But yeah since Its still under warranty definitely get it repaired.

Good luck.
