Hey guys I have had my cobalt now for about half a year, and still havnt been brave enough to throw my alpine deck in it. Iv been told by numerous shop that im looking at a price of over 150$ just for parts and install. I have the 7 speaker pioneer system, as well as cruise control, with controls on my steering wheel. Judt wondering if u guys have come across any of these, and just how hard it is to get a deck in. PS i dont care about door chimes lol

with the colbalt no one has come up with a dash kit/wire harness for it..... unless you completly re-wire all the speakers, and even after that I can't say that it'll work..... I'm pretty sure a relocation kit, isn't even out yet..... Staub has been workin on one for the colbalt and malibu, but neither has been a sucess....there has been talks about it having an LCD display built in to the dash kit..... kinda cool, but would like to see it out sooner than later.....so my take is your SOL!

Ya i know that these kits are out, I can get them off of Crutchfield. It is the wiring and the price that im paying for the install that im inquiring about. I have been quoted in the 200dollare range to install the deck and that makes it tottaly not worth it. The factory deck is fine, but its not mp3, and I have a 300dollar alpine deck layin around that I would love to install, but for that price no way.

doubt this helps but the factory amp is up under the drivers side of the dash, just look for fins, not really sure how to bypass it tho

ok so you got a wire harness for the upgraded pioneer system? cause that's what he has....you'd have to re-wire the car to bypass the factory amp.... not sure if the deck would give it enough juice to turn it on..... we had some trouble with a monsoon system grand-am with an alpine deck.....

Couldn't you tap off the ignition to turn the deck on, as long as you fuse it?

time to reassess your installers capabilities
the problem with most cookie cutter installers is all they know how to match wire colors and pull out screws
the pull out the meter and cut the wire install is above there heads
oh i forgot
the ones that cut wires are hacks
