It's permanently mounted to my Makita router.

Oh, and make sure you use an Upcut spiral bit for it, the jig is calibrated using a 1/4" bit.
</font>[/QUOTE]so whuts this deal with the upcut spiral bit? I've been using a double-fluted straight cut bit for years with great luck. is the spiral bit faster/cleaner? I know in 3/4" mdf with my old setup I have to do like 3 passes to go through...

I ordered my jasper jig today. came to $52 US shipped with a handful of other parts that were cheap (namely grill snaps) if its as accurate as everybody says it is, it'll pay for itself quickly....NO MORE TEST CUTS...YAHOO!!!

I know this is bringing this back from the dead but I am wondering it seems that the Jasper jig that Lee Valley holds is an old different model of the jig as it seems to have the fixtures that would fit on my B&D router (yes I am cheap) however, the ones sold by Parts Express and on the Jasper site don't seem to fit (and don't include the router in the application guide).

I am wondering for people using this jig are you not using all the holes in the base of the router?

All? lol - I'm using two and one of them I had to drill into the bottom of the router base myself! If you want to make it work, you can.

Thanks for the replies I guess I will be ordering one of these. I am new to this car stereo stuff more into the performance aspect of cars. But have had this set of Infinity Kappa's and a 4 channel amp sitting around for 3 years so I figured I might as well do something with it.

I made my own jig which would have been great if I was making a rings for a sub however, because I am trying to make 7' OD and 5' ID rings for my 6.5's the 5'ID would be under the baseplate

Just wanted to update you guys a little I made my jig out of a spare piece of 1/4 inch MDF and it worked out perfect made all my speaker rings using a regular jimbob Canadian Tire Upspiral bit cut through 1/2 MDF real nice, just my router isn't that great (B&D) so it took a little while.

Nice way to say 50$ for something I was only going to use once.
