best way to make a box for two subs.
#1
I have 2 Focal 13" PolyGlass Subs and i was wondering what is the best way to make boxes for them.
previously i had just used an old box and modified it so they both could share a single chaimber,
now i made two seperate boxes for them.
i was just wondering, which box will give the best performance - output level. (no bandpass'es, or ported boxes please)
i guess it leaves me with the real option of 2 seperate boxes, one chaimber for both, or one box with a divider.
any help would be appreciated.
thanks

It doesn't matter if you have a common chamber, divided box, or 2 boxes. All separate volumes offer is the ability to take one woofer out and not affect the other one.
If you wanted superior performance, you would port it

im sayin if dukk recommends u port the box, its probly worth your while to port your box....
im trustin someone whos been doin this that long over a piece of paper, my 12s are supposed to be in like a 2cuft. ported box, its closer to 5cu ft. (i questioned, but trusted the guy who designed it,) theres no way my system would be puttin up the numbers it does if i had gone by what PPI recommends...
just food fer thought...

I have heard them in a ported box, and i was not to keen on the sound, at high volumes they would get a little bit of a flapping sound. so from what the focal reps tell me, and the sounds i heard from a ported 33v2 imo i would never want to port these drivers.
i am a believer in porting some drivers. i have had many ported box's that have done me well, just not in this case.

i'd try it to. espeacially coming from dukk. i was told to make a 2 cubic foot box with a port for ours. i made it 32 cubic ft. with a port the size of nebraska. and we hit a high number with that. you should go into the db drag website and the iasca web site and look at event photos of what high db hitters hit, and get a feel for whether it should be ported or not. good luck
