Capacitor
Hi, I am fairly new to the car audio stuff, and I need some feedback. I am currently installing a Fosgate 1001bd and a 551x, I was told to get a 3 farad capacitor, is this right?? Should I spend the $360 on this, or just replace my alternator??
Please give me some suggestions of what I should do.
Thanks

General rule of thumb, is that your alternator should be rated to provide 1/3 the maximum current draw your system can pull....
In other words you are probably fine as is...
An extra batt will take immedate strain of your 1st batt when the bass hits and will give you more off key listening time.... it will also be a parasidic draw and you will have a little less power for the system while the car is running...
Cap(s) may help your amplifiers produce distortion free transients...
