I would tear apart any car I had, no matter the street value. I think this is the reason I'm not selling my Neon when I buy my next car. That way I can have a car that is for tinkering and still have daily driver that doesn't get touched.

I should have more pics coming in the next few days.

I finally started the Sub enclosure today. My original plan was to make the entire cabinet from aluminum, but there wasn't enough air space due to the odd shaped area is being built in. So this means fiberglass. I will still be making the mounting baffle and all the braces from aluminum though. This took most of the day, but there is about 4 square meters of matting on this portion of the cabinet alone. I will usually do 2-3 layers and wait for it to dry, then scuff the surface and start again. I'm not sure how many layers there are in total, but I would guess most of the fiberglass is about 1/4" thick to 3/8" thick as it sits now. Bracing strength and mass will be added on my next trip to the garage.

Sub needs .6ft^3. I have about .8ft^3.

You only see the bottom half of the cabinet in the photos.

I am chicken, your plan is much better

random thoughts:
nice to see the local newspaper is still being read
you have an excellent plan and your using it
I hope you have stock in the fiberglass company you use
good quality of work, your using molds (I use hammers after it dries... I am never quite satisfied with the results)
glad to see the 'man love' discussion is over

I see what you mean now, the top lip of that fiberglass were seeing is not the top of the enclosure, forgive my momentary retardedness.

The H701 install is completely awesome. Very nice work. Was it just a wicked fluke that it worked out the 701 was the same width as the JL amp to do what you wanted? You're very lucky that you were able to cut out enough from the heatsinks to make the H701 board fit. Definitely some creativity points there. That's too bad you had to pony up for the entire cost of an amp to do that. They wouldn't sell you an empty case? Even direct from JL? $1000 per amp........whew.....sounds like the old days!
