Dash kit for '02 Grand Prix with 1/2 din EQ ??

Is there a dash kit that will work properly for an '02 Grand Prix with a provision for a 1/2 din EQ ? I've got an Alpine deck to go in there as well.

AMERICAN INTERNATIONAL - GMK444 - 1974 and UP GM IN-DASH CAR STEREO INSTALLATION KIT at Sound Off Audio

One of the shops in town suggested this, but its the type that sticks out a 1/2 inch. There's all kinds of room behind the deck when you "remove" the plastic part of the tray that sticks up about a 1/2 inch. Looking for something more flush, but I'll live with the other until I find something better.

I've made a couple out of different din and a half kits, so they are flush mount, it's not that hard to do, just find one that suits your needs, and mount the face of the kit to the body of the gm kit via soldering iron and welding the plastic together, then stregnthening it up with some epoxy. If you take your time, you could come up with some pretty sweet custom install kits. I remember doing a kameleon deck in a 1.5 din in a dakota. we used some shiny black plastic that we got from an old tv casing, flush mounted the face of the deck to the plastic, so when the truck was off, it was virtually impossible to see. I've also used tinted plexi for a 1.5 din install, sort of made a fake backing out of a couple old metra kits and installed some small 4" neon tubes in behind the plexi. at night it looked super cool with all the perimiter of the deck lit up. the sky is the limit, you know what you want it to look like as a final product, so think up some interesting ways to get there.

good luck.

Will

Thanks for the reply. Did some more googling and came up with a Metra 99-4544 . Should be a good starting point.

So I went with the Metra 99-4544 kit as per a local installers suggestion and others from another board. For those dumb enough to try and install a din deck with a 1/2 din clarion eq in a grand prix....a dremel tool is your friend !!

^ Well at least you made it work. Hey, if installs were all easy, what fun would that be?
