DIY Wiring for Subs and Amp

Is it possible to just buy 8 guage wire and whatever else you need for the power and subs and put on your own loops and clamps instead of buying a wiring kit? What about the fuse that has to be right by the battery, is it possible to get a holder for that and make one yourself? What would be the better option and is a home made one just as good?

i don't think i'd want a "home made" fuse holder. go spend the $10 to get one that is made properly to do its job. just IMO of course. electrical isn't something i like to cheap out on personally. too much can go wrong and fubar ur car/truck

Generally Amp kits are cheaper in price than buying all of the install parts individually. I wouldnt suggest makeing "homemade parts" eirther too much can go wrong. Goodluck.

Just go to walmart. They should have an 8 ga kit with everything you need for $20-30...

by the time you buy all the parts individually it will be more expensive than the kit and when you buy a kit its all nice and easy to setup all the stuff is right there for you
