Extending battery cables

You can buy large gauge connectors from a welding supply store, but I'd just run new wires.

Right, did the fuse holder method, looks like ****, and there is something that bothers me about having a fuse on the main lines. I have a set of stinger couplers on the way from the states that should look better, and no worrie about a possible blown fuse.

The alternator only puts out 120 Amps, and the fuses are rated at 200, but still.... Thanks for the info guys.

120 amp alt is fine

A coupler is the "proper" way to do it.

Fusing the alternator, as long as that wire only goes to the alternator and nothing else, with a 120amp fuse, is prefectly ok since your alt probably isn't more than 120 amps.

Couplers arrive tomorrow, the fuses are 200 Amp, but they are on the main lines to the battery both positive and negative. needless to say, until the couplers are in, I won't be cranking anything up to max

it won't make a difference whether or not u crank it because even if you alt is putting out more than 120amps, it won't be 80 more.
