Extending and power wire size needed?

Existing setup has 2 gauge welding wire that ends just below my arm rest. My future setup is going to require 8 more feet. Can I re attach 8ft then solder, shrink wrap a new connection or will this do this change the resistance dramatically.

Also my amps are a total of 1500watts - I'm thinking of going up to 0/1

Thanks

Soldering large cable can be done, but has to be done a certain way to be effective and perform properly. A mechanical connections is easier, and you can avoid the problems with a poor solder joint. Ilsco, Panduit, T&B make mechanical connections like butt splices (compression) or enclosed lugs (screw-down). But the price of those is going to be more than just buying new 1/0 cable.

I would just buy new wire personally.
