ground question

ground question

hey guys..

i have my positive wire with fuse run to the trunk attached to amp, remote turn on from deck to amp, ground from amp to metal in trunk.. when i connect my negative battery terminal i get a little spark.. i'm guessing my ground i did is no good? its a 2002 civic.. any specific place i should be looking for in the trunk to ground to?

no at the end you add power to the car so why is the neg bad

The little spark just means that something in your car is drawing power (i.e. radio memory).
The spark means your ground is good

your computer, deck, and especially the amp ( because of all the capacitors in it) will draw a bit of juice when you hook the battery backup, its funny when people jump when they see sparks on the battery, its just normal on a new car

Most times you hook up an amp, you will get a spark. Whether it be on the battery terminal, or the amp terminals. The caps in the internal power supply fill up when you first connect it.

It is at that exact point in time that I lurch towards the rookie installer and make a zapping sound......after which he promptly has a heart attack.

you gotta be carefull doing that. Ive scared some rookies that way, and they tend to drop S#!T when they get scared. ie loosing an ANL fuse in the engine compartment of a 2000 VW Jetta.
