With the additional information that your system gets very loud with very little radio volume, I would say for sure that your amp gains are way too high and likely the major contributor to your problems. It's the free place to start anyway.

 

ok so i re-installed tonight with the sensitivity set to minimum and changed input voltage to low and you were all right it sounds perfect now. thanks so much for the help, the only problem now is i wish i hadnt cheaped out on speakers because im not overly impressed. but im going to rectify that but will likely need some advice thanks again
