Holy shiznit...i've been getting ripped off all this time...
As bad as it sounds that is about right for a compustar with all those features. We never have any room to move on the labour, as $50/hr compared to mechanics with similar training come in at $70-$80 cdn. You might squeak a few bucks off the alarm and get maybe one feature free(hood, trunk etc.). But I like Buffdaddy's approach, I would have a hard time saying no to that. My point is, don't feel ripped off as the average price of a compustar is almost $700.
hmm fair enough...i do understand what you guys are saying...and i agere with pretty much everything in the last two posts.
Guess i just don't like to heckle about prices...as I have worked in retail for too long, and eventually i've just gotten annoyed with people complaining and complaining to get a lower price (when our store always had the lowest prices due to their size compared to other sport stores in town). I'm just not good at heckling people over prices nor do i like to do it. But i suppose in this siutation you guys are correct. Maybe i'll run by the shop and just let them know i've checked with a couple other places, this is what they're prepared to offer me or if they'll compensate

umm, mr pickles... if you think that a car audio installer, and a licensed mechanic have the same level of training, you're insane. someone who wants to be a mechanic goes through a long apprenticeship period of on the job training, and in class learning. a car audio installer goes to a "school" for 10 weeks and gets a certificate. I'm not knocking installer schools, they're definitely a good thing. but the level of training is not anywhere close to the same.
