My caps just turn on when the voltage decreases rapidly. Say.. when i turn my truck on (voltage drop) and if i am listening to my system with the truck off (caps turn off after a while), then crank it (voltage drop causes it to come on).
But then again. I only have a Positive and Negative terminal on mine. No remote. Maybe it varies between styles...

 

I actully heard the same thing 1000 watts = 1 farad cap. Now i dont know how acurate that is but i will find out i think i might be picking up a cap if i can find one for cheap
