Where are you from? As far as I know, you can weld on your frame as much as you want. And I bet every machine shop in every lil ****town has a mig in it.

Actually on almost all newer cars welding on the frame is a NO-NO if you read your manual. Read your manual then weld away

If you want to weld a piece to your vehicle you can. I suggest not wasting your time trying to weld a piece of brass to steel, as it will not work. If you want to go that route, just go by some 5/8" square stock, drill and tap it out to what ever you need, and then weld away. You can weld on a vehicle be it the frame or body without any problems. Only areas that need to be avoided at all costs are steering and suspension components. This should not be a problem for you as I asume you want to weld the block to the body in the interior of your car? Once you have your block made, just go rent a mig from a local rental store, make sure you get it with .030" wire, and ask for a CO2 Mixed gas, and you will have not worries. Any more welding questions from anyone, just shoot them my way, thats what i do for a living!!!

Good luck!

The only thing I would add to that is to make sure you disconnect the battery BEFORE you weld on any part of the car, body or frame.

Yes that would also be a wise move, and Im sure that anyone attempting any welding on a vehicle would most certainly do it anyway.!!!!!
