I know the remote wire can be run to 2 amps by splicing it but where do i hook it up on the headunit? Do I splice it to the power antenna turn on relay. Will that be alright.

 

Either the remote turn on or the power ant wire will work fine.

 

I have it spliced at the amps then 1 running to the remote on my alpine

 

Isn't there a way to hook it up to a switch , and then from the switch to the head unit turn on wire.. ( I'm trying to find a tut for it or any info )

So when the car is on, I can decide if I want the amp on or not by the flick of a switch on my dash ?

You can go to any Canadian tire or equivalent and buy a switch with 3 prongs, found in the electrical automotive aisle, it should have 12v in, a ground and lead out.. Then you would simply find a switched 12v source and use that (ignition on etc...), as the power in source. From there find a ground and ground the switch and run the wire out from the switch to the amp... I searched for a tutorial but couldn't find one. Hope that helps....

 

I would wire it from the remote wire of the headunit rather from the antenna out - there's a difference in current between the two (some headunits are not designed to produce enough current from the antenna out to turn an amp on) especially that you're splitting it out to trigger 2 amps. Then, I would simply install a SPST (single pole single throw) switch in line with the remote to the the amp(s).

 

I had the same problem with current when running two amps and i was using the remote turn on, doest the remote turn on use much less then a volt??? I solved the problem by using a relay.

 

In terms of voltage, both should be giving out at least 12 volts and it's a question or difference on how much current flowing. At some cases, you may possibly need a relay depending on types of amp nor head units. My opinion is based on the experience with highend headunit (such as Eclipse), which remote line has a greater trigger current than the antenna out.
