interesting that you say that, i was just talking with someone about that exact thing, i would tend to agree with you, but his arguement was reflections inside the box with 1/4, 1/8 waves and so on. a 100 hz note has a wavelgnth of 11.3 ft, 1/8 the wave could very well be inside many boxes. i havent had alot of time as of late to research the validity of his statements, but immediate common sense says he may be somewhat right. our conversation went on to talk about the affects certain types of bracing have inside boxes etc, was an interesting talk. i would rarely call bs on this guy as he has forgottem more about subwoofers and boxes then i will ever know, but i may smell a bit of voodoo here

 

An 1/8 wave won't reflect, have a look at the shape of a sine wave and you can see why.

Woofers make all sorts of goofy resonances and out of band harmonics though that can potentially reflect and make standing waves in parallel wall boxes.

I like to line at least one wall with some sort of damping and call it done. [img]smile.gif[/img]
