Sub Problem!?!
#1
I was recently having trouble getting my subs to work, but that problem has been fixed. Both of the 10 inch ultra linears are good, as they have been hooked up to the house stereo system and work fine. But since hooking them up in the car, only 1 sub will work. Ive tried fiddling with the wires, etc, but nothing seems to be working. I dont know if im hooking the subs up wrong to the amp, but there are 4 outputs, 2 with speaker A and 2 with speaker B. The + and - have been matched up, so I have no idea why one works and the other doesnt. If you switch them around, the sub connected to the one wire will always work, whereas the sub connected to the other 2 types of same wire wont work. any thoughts/help???
thanks

um ya its a 2 channel 1200 watt amp..and pretty much 1 channel always works and the other doesnt, but then i tried wiring the speaker wire A->+ B->-, etc, and bass was coming out of one sub, while the music was coming out of the tweeter on the other sub. im not sure if im wiring them right or what not, but they havent been able to work together as of yet. help?!

The speaker wires are setup in the v config. is this what you are talking about: Sub A--->"a" +, "b" - on amp, and Sub B --->"a" - and "b" +? also, with the rca's, ive just matched the red plug in to the rca output on the amp, as well as the output on the HU. should you match the red rca to the red input/output slot, or do the colours not really matter? thanks.

If you have a DMM check continuity at these points.. (otherwise test with a 9v battery)
See if the cone jumps when you connect the battery to the woofer or if you get a proper reading with a DMM...
If its dead at the + & - terminals check the tinel leads underneath the cone... first at the other side of the terminals where they are connected then back down the lead to where it enters the cone..
It could be a bad soldier joint at the terminal, the lead could be broken/burned, or it could be shorted inside the speaker under the dust cap....
If the voice coil is shorted you probably can't fix it unless you tear the whole thing apart... (and you might not be able to fix it at all)

ok
if i am understandign you right
you have a 2 channel amp ( 4 sets of terminals i.e. 2 + and 2 -)
when you hook up a sub to the 1 channel of the amp you get no sound. no matter which speaker you hook up . right??
if this is the case taht channel on your amp is shot...

ya it is a 2 channel amp...1200 watt "ultimate" amp. ive searched around the internet for this brand and havent found anything on it.
i have 2 subs...and the sub always hooked up to 1 channel works, while the other one doesnt. if you switch the subs around, the other one will work. it seems that the "A-" port on speaker a isnt working, as ive tried hooking the subs up in a normal // way and \/ bridged way. the amp is not shot, but there may be something wrong with it, any ideas???

Dude... does the amp work properly or not ???
It is impossible to troubleshoot rouge problems... you say its a 2channel amp then describe a 4channel amp....
Take a sub and hook it on one channel.. then on the other channel... if one channel dosent work then something is wrong with the amp or setup...... start by checking RCA cables amp settings and wiring...
If its a 4channel amp the two A channels should be bridged and the two B channels should be bridged... this will make two bridged channels...
sounds like you have the channels wired across each other (A to B instead of A to A and B to B)????
