Sub Turns Off

okay heres the deal, I have a 99 Dodge Advenger. Running a stock system. I just got a 10" American Pro, and a 450 watt amp. I had to buy a converter for my car, becasue I could not get a CD player at this time. The converter just ties in with the rear speakers in the trunk. Now, I have the 10" duel bridged, and it sounds 100% better. But it keeps turning off, and the amp gose into protect mode. I turned the built in Gain down on the converter, and the amp is not all the way up. What else could it be?
Thanks.

first check your resistance on your sub to see what your tryin to get your amp to push. if your bridging the amp at 2ohms and your amp isn't designed to handle less than 4ohms, you will have this problem. Also check your fuse on your power line by the battery on the of the cable you ran to see if it matchs the same value as the fuse in your amp. 8 guage you might be able to get away with if your amp is 450w peak or 4 gauge is whats good for that amp for both power and ground wire. Check your wire connections to both the amp and the sub to see if any frayed wires are touching each other, if all else fails then look at the back of the sub to see if the two wires attached to the cone itself are touch either each other or the metal basket of the sub.
