does anyone know how to get the window cranks of a sunfure without the silly gm crank removal tool? i tried pulling, prying and swearing at them while pulling and they just dont seem to want to pop off.

i havent taken mine off yet or looked at it closly but if its like most gm's (with the little C-clip thing on the back holding the crank on) then all you need to do is get a thin rag push the door panel in a bit and slide the rag behind and try to catch the end of the clip in the rag with a little patience you will be able to get the crank off.

Check with Princess Auto if you have one in your area, I picked up a couple of different panel removal tools from them for cheap.

I got mine from canadian tire, and it works fine with sunfire cranks. They're cheap too, much better then using a rag. You wont have to cut the door either just use some MDF adapters.

J-Body Club Of Ontario a thread on how to remove them, might give some ideas.

And I have 6 1/2's in my doors absolutely no problems, however mine were installed by a shop.

I did a friends sunfire so I know this works but its pretty standard method for crank windows, you need to pop off the little omega shaped clip, push the panel in and get a feel/look at where it is, then use a flat head screwdriver to push it up, DONT LOSE IT!!! Or buy the $10 tool ram it in and push.
