Ahhh music...
So, a post on another thread gave me an idea for a full thread.
Other than listening, is music a part of your life? Play any instruments, etc.?
Myself, I love a beat. Back in... oh... 82 or 83 (ya, I'm THAT old) my neighbors Clayton & Nevin got into mixing, dj'ing & scratching in their basement. The birth of hip-hop era. This is when I really got into music, hangin' out with them.
Only I'm one REALLY white boy, I can't hold a beat for very long, no matter how hard I try. So, with computers coming in at the same time, I got into makin gmusic on PC's, remixes, and DJ'ing private parties and things.
I can slap a hand drum alright, but like I said, I need others around me that are good to drown out my sloppy beats. I have a good collection of hand instruments, some bongos, a djembe, tambourine, and some ceramic bongos I picked up in Santa Cruz California a few years ago.
Best time I ever had with music is a few years in a row, there was a festival, "The Gathering at Island Lake" in Fernie, BC that I went to. Small & intimate, and incredibly talented musician's, playing handdrums all night beside the lake... it was awesome. My cousin brought his Didgeridoo's (he has quite a collection, and is VERY talented too), I brought my drums, and there were a gazillion other instruments around for everyone to try...

I still play gigs with my band -- its a hobby that keeps me out of trouble and it is great to get paid to drink free beer. I sing because I'm too cheap to buy my own gear.
