Audio Magic in London
Indeed it is sad. And it goes with pretty much any type of sales. Mainly salesmen working on commission. I walked into an audio store a few weeks ago in my work clothes and work boots(lumberyard) and the 10 guys working didn't come help me at all. Just plain ignored. THEN, I walked in the next day on my day off wearing a leather jacket and expensive looking clothes. I think all 10 asked to help me. Sharks.

sad yet so true. I've done the same and it happened in Future Shop. I think I stood around for 25minutes waiting for help then I spent 15 looking for help and then another 15 waiting for that person to come help!!!!!
Funniest part they weren't busy and they were standing around socializing

My time is a little more valuable than that. If I don't get served in a reasonable ammount of time, I just leave.
I know what you're thinking. So yes, "reasonable" does depend on how busy they are. If they're busy I'll wait 15-20. If they're just standing around with their thumbs up their asses then it'll be 5 mins, tops.
Yeah, this place they come to ya some what quickly but they sold all there demo boards so we couldn't listen to any of the subs, the amp was on display and was a 2002 model Kicker 300.4... and for them to say yeah 25% stocking fee? and it was like 5 days later if that... that's a **** off if I had like 4-5 friends willing to spend like 2-3Grand, I would walk in there tell them I have these people who want to spend this much but first you need to cater to my other buddy here who you wouldn't even try and help out!, soon as they did help out turn around and walk right out with a big FU in return...
I've only been to Audio Magic once or twice to see what kind of gear they have, and I found their salesmen to be rather intrusive and pushy. Usually I just end up talking to the installer to avoid the six hours of verbal diarrhea. Power Station isn't as bad for that, but I listned to one guy's sales pitch on an Alpine amp, and there was a lot of BS to filter out. I remember one guy that used to work there, Rick, and we'd spend a lot of time discussing equipment, particularly JL since he had a W7 in his trunk. He was by far the most knowledgeable guy there; friendly, informative, not pushy, and he was happy to demo his car for you. Too bad he left...
FS is notorious for the "blue shirt congregation," but I'd much rather have salesmen that don't pay much attention to you as opposed to salesman that seem intent on forcing you into a sale. I mean, you can always ask for help, right? That's one thing about the small shops I don't like... Small shop, small demo room. I feel claustrophobic like there's no escape, and this guy is going to put my nuts into a vice until I buy something from him. With the big boxes, at least there's lots of room to escape. I've walked out of more shops because I can't get service, when I had cash in hand, than I can think of. I find that shops that have "exclusive" product for an area tend to be that way the most, because people "have" to come there to get that stuff. I've also found that small shops are worst for that, because they don't ahve the staff to keep up if a number of customers come in at the same time.
Yeah, the guys at Audio Magic kinda just cling on and never give ya space then when there lips aren't moving there just watching you like ur gonna steal there ****...It was there when I bought my new system after the theft sold me on this AudioBahn Amp I mean till this day I don't know if it was the amp or the alpine deck but I needed the gains to be pretty high... I took it to the store and there like there ya go!< the Bass boost was off, they cranked the gains to like 3/4 full..... it sounded like *** very punchy no clean at all.... I bought a line driver and did help I didn't need the bass boost on, so I think it was the deck the weak pre-outs. **** I didn't need to go to the "Pros" just to have my gains cranked and bass boost turned up....
