Computer Gurus: Help needed deleting file
#11
My problem is usually to diagnose problems I'd have to be there. Usually files that cannot be deleted are sources that are currently running (such as a process, or a virus/trojan). If you can take a screen shot of all your processes running (if you hit control alt delete, and click the processes tab and check the box that says "show proccesses from all users") I can help you identify the virus/trojan, and than hopefully delete him, if he is actively running.

It's hard to track down the file thats infected especally if it won't show up in msconfig. If it's attached it's self onto a file, the only real way of picking the virus up is by getting a scanner that will pick it up, or by disabeling all start up files.

Its a glorified task manager. Could help out...
Not just one scanner... multiple. I would try avg free edition, spybot (get rid off some spyware), lavasoft ad-aware, ewido anti-malware, and trend micro housecall.
That should clean up most/all of it, but you still need to stop the virus from executing itself before you start cleaning up, otherwise your doing alot of work for nothing.

back your up.... format your HDs.... and reinstall......
if you download a lot over P2P or torrents or whatever, there could be a lot of other stuff onboard you don't even know about.... might be time to clear house......
