That can work sometimes, but in most cases you have to clean up some bad registry commands that link to other files upon startup that the virus has duplicated onto your pc. If you dont, it keeps coming back to haunt you!

It's hard to track down the file thats infected especally if it won't show up in msconfig. If it's attached it's self onto a file, the only real way of picking the virus up is by getting a scanner that will pick it up, or by disabeling all start up files.

Not just one scanner... multiple. I would try avg free edition, spybot (get rid off some spyware), lavasoft ad-aware, ewido anti-malware, and trend micro housecall.

That should clean up most/all of it, but you still need to stop the virus from executing itself before you start cleaning up, otherwise your doing alot of work for nothing.

back your up.... format your HDs.... and reinstall......

if you download a lot over P2P or torrents or whatever, there could be a lot of other stuff onboard you don't even know about.... might be time to clear house......

I've run Housecall, Spybot, Adaware, Norton and the file doesn't show up in any of the scans.

SheHateMe: how do I get a screen shot of the processes?
