No it's reported already....but it's wether she goes through insurance or not to get it fixed... If she has say 500$ deductible and it's 800$ to fix it what's the point?? So if she doesn't put the claim through and I don't.. then it should effect my insurance... but I am sure she would lol

Yeah no lol, not a chance in hell I can do that I can't even afford my own damn 500$ deductible... oh well not to worried about it... I just had my policy renewed so they can't start chargin me the extra 40$ until July.....However I did find out they haven't been giving us the married discount which is basically the same as turning 25... they just started doing it last month... so they have 1 year and abit to make up for it.. so there gonna look into it see if they can gives us a reduction on rent or money back...

Are you famillar with the difference between the civil and criminal court systems??
I dont think there is much he could take to civil court, and he never mentioned charges being laid... so I dont think there is much to take to court...
</font>[/QUOTE]I'm very familiar with both thanks it was an IF option if you didnt read it all.

Doug I'm pretty sure it would count even if she just went through your insurance, if I was her I would no offence but why pay for something someone else can right? If someone rear ended you would you not go through their insurance and make theirs pay for it? Even if its the tiniest damage guy did it when he hit my car he had a couple scratches and a broken head light, yet my car was almost a friggin write off wish he knew how to read a speed limit sign and know what a frickin red light was...

You're going to have to look at how much the total bill will be here and if you can afford it up front. When my ex-Grand Am got damaged, it was front bumper skin and a slight fender repair - with an OEN replacement bumpber skin, paint and labour it was well over 2 grand. Yours looks similar but add in a headlight and the damage to the other car, you are probably approaching 5 grand.

I'd say let insurance deal with it unless you already have a few "strikes" with them. When the accident is recorded at a reporting center, you can request that it not be reported to the insurance company. Otherwise, it will be reported automatically by the reporting center and the insurance company will see who was deemed at fault from the accident report. Then they will take appropriate actions on your record (be it the "free pass" or a rate hike) even if do not pay a dime out to the repair.

Good luck man! And if insurance is paying, INSIST on a OEM NEW bumper cover. They tried to put a "remanufacturerd" OEM bumper on mine. Also the aftermarket factory lookalike ones don't fit as well. This is where the body shops make their extra profits.

Plastic Bumpers obviously rule!!

I love my trunk, i mean tank, i mean truck...6 inches of steel bumper and grille to get therough before you ge tto my front end..lol

Good luck man.
I look at it this way, your insurance is going to screw you one way or another. They have been known to jack up rates if you even mention 'accident' or 'claim' to them.
People wont even call them to ask hypotheticals, because they are afraid of rate hikes.

Regardless of if it breaks your bank, I'd try to pay it out of pocket for hers too if she is trying to claim with insurance. You wont get the vindication of who's at fault, but you'll probably save yourself a bunch down the road. Because while the 2 grand right now (obviously a guesstimate) may be a real pain, the extra 100 bucks a month for the next 30 years is going to be more expensive.

The insurance industry in Ontario is the worst scam going, unfortunately. You're actually lucky she even has insurance.

if it's on your record, your insurance will go up, period.

been there, done that, got the T shirt.

my civic got totaled by a transport truck who wasn't watching, and didn't signal. the cop said that it was 5% my fault, 95% his fault. I still get an at fault accident on my record.
