im gonna punch a salesman....
price tags are a starting off point, would u buy a house for what the owner WANTED for it? or when u are selling gear, dont u always put the price a lil higher then u expect to get knowing u can work down to a more reasonable price?
havent u guys ever watched the shopping bags???? number 1 rule for smart shopping is always see if u can get some kinda discount, the worst that can happen is the salesman says no, if u can find the same thing elsewhere then u go, if u want it then and there, at least u tried....
ending of the story, i pick up a 5410 at 2pm, i had it in my car by 3pm, and it was the easiest most painless/problem free install ive ever had, like we are talkin 5 screws and its in and out, wire to wire done like dinner, HUGE difference from my bottom end sony deck

Sorry to hear you had a bad experience. You dealt with one person out of a company with hundreds. It will happen at any dealer, independant or chain, as nobody has 100% perfect staff. As far as the comparison between independants and chains, where do you think chains started out? A&B, FS and Visions didn't just appear with all their stores. They started small, did it well and have grown.

ended up gettin it at A&B, dealt with someone alot more helpful, matched the price i wanted, and gave me the warranty coverage i wanted, took all of 4 minutes, he was straight with me, so he got the commission, its that easy.
for the record i never said i wanted to punch all salesmen, just the one, there have been a number of guys ive gone to repeatedly for gear cus they are honest and knowledgeable, and dont try to screw me around,

Tha-Game: This isn't directed at you on a personal level.
A price tag is not a "asking price"
Sorry society has brainwashed everyone into figuring they should get a deal on Cars, homes and electronics..
Why don't you go to a restaurant and barter down your meal? Or maybe a "Buck or two" demading 1/2 price?
or the dentist? Guess Dateline should do a hidden camera expose' on "Fair Doctor prices" Seems to work real well for Used Car sales..
Sorry to say but Hagglers are a pain in the ***.
How would any of you enjoy someone coming into your place of work and asking you to make less money per hour? Or to work and not get paid for a chunk of your day?
On most commision structures you would have just cost the salesman $10. Sure not a big deal to you right..
Add that to the $3 you leave him and when the rest of the "brainwashed" public comes in after you.. Sweet paycheck
No wonder you guys complain there aren't any good salesman to help you out.. When all your doing is help put them out of a job the whole time.
After being in sales for a number of years,
My shopping experiences now go pretty easy.
Price shopping is a pain in the ***, My time is worth more to me than the $40 and the waste of a day or weekend finding the best price. There are WAY more things to look for in a store than a price tag.
Try after sales service, Knowledge and future relationships..
The last thing I ever want to be remembered as when I leave a store is "One of THOSE guys again"

well the way i see it, if saleman A says to me, hey, what will it take to have u walk out with this right now? how bout $40 off the price?, now i go to salesman B and he says oh he offered u that? ill do 5$ better, im gonna spend my money and save it where i can,
i know that when a salesman says well this is our cost.... thats bs, when a small independant shop can do promo's like having a draw at a local car show and give everyone who entered "3rd prize of a free alarm" but u gotta pay for the install.... and they are makin cash doin that, i know that when a chain store buys 100 decks that would cost anyone else 300$ from the factory they are paying half that, volume = discounts, most companies out there give discounts of 5-20% for buying in bulk,
i dont expect a salesman to be able to rattle off every spec of ever deck, speaker and amp, they sell, but i damn sure expect to not stand around and be ignored, and then talked down to when someone finally decides they might want my business,
if a salesman cant do anything on a price, ei if its already on sale, or "below cost" i dont try to push them lower, but i know how much markups are just by lookin at my moms business, she has items she pays 12$ for and can turn around and sell em for 90$
also, with this deck the price i paid, i basically got the extended warranty for free, salesman, and company made their cash, cus in all the decks ive had ive had a problem with one, in say 6 years, so that "insurance" money is again, going into the bank account of said store cus chances are i wont have any problems with this deck, and companies know this, or they wouldnt offer an extended warranty if the number of returns were say 70% theres no way anyone would offer a warranty
in all honesty tho i could care less how a saleman things of me, he could think im a ***** i dont care in the least, he can go home and tell his wife/gf whatever what an *** i was, but its his job, when im there to be polite, courteous, and helpful. same as when im in my UPS truck doin deliveries if a customer wants to scream at me for brokerage charges, or cus their package is broken, i cant tell them to screw off, i cant tell them i dont wanna hear it, and i cant ignore them, i sit there, take it, and do what i can to help them resolve the situation, sure when im a couple blocks away with my doors closed i can scream and yell all i want, but in that 5 minutes they want to try to tear into me im a professional service provider, if i dont like it, i can always leave, and a salesman who feels the same about dealing with customers who want to get the best price from an honest individual, can do the same,
thats how i feel
and the whole "my time is worth more then the $40 id save" the way i see that, if its something i enjoy doing, like car audio, i have no problem investing my time, i dont think its a job, or a chore for me to go to 3-4 stores, check out the different lines and see where the best deal is, if i thought of car audio as a chore id stop doing it in my spare time
PS got the subs in the car now, sounds freakin amazing compared to the sony deck.... i didnt think it would make such a HUGE difference, i think i may have even picked up a db or 2 with the sub out
