So I was heading into town when I looked up and saw a couple kids walking on the other side of the road bouncing a basketball on the gravel shoulder (instead of using the paved walking trail 10' over). They were about 1 mile ahead of me so I didn't pay too much attention. All of a sudden I look up and the ball has passes the yellow line with a kid right behind it. I hammer on the brakes and swerve to the right and my front wheel catches the gravel and I do 2 360's, my 1 rear tire strips its bolts and goes flying, I hit the ditch and flip. Im glad I was only going 85kmh or I prolly woudln't be here today. When all's said and done I am hanging upside down by my seatbelt. (driving a 91 Tracker convertible, no top on)

I'm a little sore today, but not hurt. Ofcourse the wheel that came off had to hit another car, a brand new Protoge but the occupants weren't hurt. And to top it off neither the car that got hit by the tire or the person behind me remembers seeing the kid. I guess I can understand that though, they were probably paying attention to the Tracker putting on a show and getting out of the way.

I tell the cop that and he says there's not much he can do seeing as the kids didn't even stick around and I wouldn't be able to pick them out even if I had to. The insurance adjuster is gonna look at the Tracker tuesday or wednsday, I'm guessing he will write it off. Really looking forward to seeing how much my insurance is going up because of this as they are most likely going to classify it as an accident at my fault. Glad I just fixed up and painted the body.

I guess the only good thing about this is that nobody got hurt. If there's anything else good about this situation, I would love to hear about it.

im glad nobody was hurt but it sucks that those kids were on the road. their parents are lacking a little if they don't stress to their kids to stay on the sidewalk!

Yeah it is good that nobody was hurt. Hey don't feel bad man. I have messed up my car like three times! First time I ended up needing a new front end and a front quarter panel, came to 900.00 Dollars. Second time I needed a new front end and some touch up work, ended up coming to 700.00 Dollars. And the last time I needed a new front end, a new hood, a new front quarter panel, front parking light, and touch up work, and that came to 3700.00 Dollars. And everytime was because I would look away from the road for about two seconds and the second I looked back the retard in front of me had slammed on his brakes for no damn reason and I would nail them. Three times! LOL! It's good that nobody was hurt though!

Thanks guys.

That's the thing, can't prove the thing about the kids. I really wish my rear wheel had stayed on as well, I might not have even rolled, who knows.

I'm really worried about insurance. I don't turn 25 til next year, this is my only accident which will be ruled as my fault (no other accidents claimed), no speeding tickets, etc, but if they write it off, the vehicle was worth around $3500 or so. I have a bad feeling that my insurance is gonna double, plus i'm listed as occasional on my dads truck and moms car and I'm guessing their rates will go up a bit as well.

I glad that nobody was hurt, but sad that the car was fliped. But that should teach you to always make sure your rims are tourqed to specs.

Hey man...Glad to hear noone was hurt....the end result could have been horrindous!!!

And look at it this way....Another one of those annoying little Geo's is off the road now....LOL.....JK.....

I've got a few thoughts on how kids are raised and taught the right and wrong ways of doing things in this day and age,but I think I will keep them to myself...

But I will say this though..Although you totaled your car,did some damage to another car, and may have to pay in the wallet for a bit,you and noone else were seriously hurt or even killed.....Good on Ya,man!!You made the right call, and don't know if your of any sort of faith at all,but I really think God was on your side that day...count that blessing in a major way..

Any plans for a new car yet??

Well, the everything was tourqued to spec, I did it about a week before, but there was enough of am impact back there that the bolts were stripped off.

After taking a look at it with my dad, I've decided just to take it off the road as it's not worth it for me to go through insurance. Maybe if I was 30, but not 24. So I will now be taking over my parents old car, a 94 Dodge Spirit. I don't mind the car, so that's alright. Only thing I odn't like is that it's an auto. I really wish I had my Tracker though. I will eventually turn it into a bush buggy which I planned to do in another 40,000 kms anyways, I didn't plan on having to do this much body work again though.

Good to hear you're not hurt man. Seatbelts can save lives. Sucks that nobody else saw the kids, and I would imagine they would run. When you're a kid and you think you're in trouble, you run.
I'll bet you were on #21 b/w the Pinery and GB. It does have a real nice paved trail.
Probably a smart move to bypass the insurance and just take it off the road. You may not get what it's worth, and you'll pay, pay, pay through jacked premiums.
Must have been a wild ride, again, good that nobody was hurt or worse.

P.S. If ever I'm in Mr.Eastsides neck of the woods, I'm gonna wire a blast horn to my brake lights so I don't get rear ended.
