I agree, save your $ and find yourself a flatscreen 37" tube and call it a day.

Rear Projection still can give you HDTV quality as can a Plasma. It's hardly the same as comparing cassette to CD.

And if you go on a lot of HDTV forums, a lot of people still prefer a HDCRT tube to any of the others.

I was under the impression that LCd doesn't display true colour..
I've never heard that. A lot of the other boards I post at though people always boast that LCD is really good for games, so I dunno!

Hey all,

Sorry for the long delay in replying but I was busy at work.

I am looking for about a 42" but a nything from a 32-42" would be great. I would also prefer a widescreen.

I have found a few at tigerdirect.ca but they are all no name stuff so I don't know if it's crap or not.

I don't really want a crt as they are huge and heavy and I just don't have the room for them. A rear projection would be fine as long as it wasn't too big at the back.

I am still looking around without any luck. I could try those forums but those are all probably people who have a $20000 tv/surround sound system so I don't know if they will even both to help but I can try.

Thanks

A plasma will always give you a better picture. It's just unfortunate that they are always so much more. My Rear projection CRT still looks amazing though I'll tell you that!

I was at Costco a few days ago, they had a 42 plasma for $1699, had a REALLY nice picture, almost came home with it.
"honey, they were out of milk, so I got a tv instead"

I am looking at buying a 52" rear projection TV but I have also thought about buying a LCD projector instead.

Any comments on what would be better ?

I guess the major downside to a projector is that you can't see the picture unless the room is very dim

LCD Rear projection seem to be great as to what the sales guy was telling me at Best Buy.

I found a huge sale for Samsung right at the factory so I am going there next Saturday and picking up a new TV. It could be anything as most of their prices from what I hear are 50% off
