I'm painting my truck this summer, and I was wondering if anybody has used Maaco before. I haven't heard anything good about them, but I can't afford to spend too much. Any input would be appreciated.

My friend has his car painted by them a few years ago. Even though his car was older it should have looked a lot better than it did. It looked quite bad when they were finished. Paint looked all bumpy as if there was like a coating of sand underneath the paint.

My biggest mistake was to go to them. I could have gone anywhere - anywhere, but NOooooo, I chose to go with them because the owner happened to live in the neighbourhood. Nothing but problems. I've taken it back many times for things not being put back right. We're talking things a child could've figured out. Now I didn't raise a stink, because ultimately it was my decision to take my car there. BTW, I was rear ended and it was 100% the other party's fault. Everything was going to be paid for by insurance.

One of the other things that made me decide to go with them was they offered to paint the whole car for a couple of hundred bucks on top of what the insruance company was going to pay.

If you ain't got the money and you intend to sell the car ASAP, then Maaco is ideal. If not, look elsewhere.

The paint job looks ok from far away, but up close, it looks just like what MrEastside said..... when I got the car back, I thought it was stone guard (OK, I'm exaggerating a bit) they used and not paint.

Maaco is a "Wham Bam Thank-you Ma'm" kind of outfit. I would only recommend them to my best enemies.

Instead of "Uh Oh.... better get Maaco", it should be

"Uh Oh, looks like a Maaco"

Oh, forgot to mention. In Canada, the Maaco shops are independently owned and operated, so it could be that there may be some decent ones out there. I'd say about one out of fifty......

Ok, I'll cool it...........
