NHL SEASON SAVED ... GAME OVER
#32
I think the most frusterating aspect behind this whole NHL deal, is the fact that both parties, and whom they represent dont seem to fully understand how many businesses and families that are dependant on the business profits that the NHL creates for them.
Like right here in Calgary, there is a bar called "Tappy's Sports Tavern". Obviously, its a sports bar that caters to the hockey crowd. Now that the NHL is over and done with, that bar is bankrupt. Its just a "business" some people say, but what a person has to consider is the the famil(ies) that are dependant on the income generated by these sports franchies, to keep their businesses afloat, which keeps food on their families tables. That pub was the sole income earner for the whole family, now that its bankrupt, so is the family... that is so terrible
Keep in mind that that is just *one* Sports pub that I know of, I'll bet there are at least a dozen more in Calgary (probably closer to 30 really) That are in the red-zone financially due to this season being over with. Thats just here in Calgary, how about Edmonton, how about Regina, how about NYC, and Los Angelas, and Miami. Its daunting to really grasp how many families are affected by all of this. I think its sickening of how very selfish the players, and the players reps are, to not consider any of the other things like this that happen. Its just them, them, them, them all the time. Like I'd be willing to bet the 3rd party financial devestation they're actions have caused, would out-wiegh they're salary expectations 10 fold. I know I'd be incredibly disgusted if I was a sports bar owner, and I had a family to feed.

I love it how people say that the players get paid too much. All Bettman is doing is trying to make money for the bigger franchises. The lower the cap, the higher the $$ in the pockets of the owners. Making the rich richer. No wonder Forbes and other financial magazines named Bettman the worst CEO.

I will never support the NHL again. It is too bad and I do feel a little for the hard working players that are living their dream of playing hockey (the game they love) and getting paid (very well) for doing so. But I do not feel anything but vile distaste for the rest of those tainted by greed (especially the players association and the agents...who have now hopefully screwed themselves). Greed has grown into what we see now. I'd love to see alot of empty seats if and when the NHL returns. When you bite the hand of the feeder...

what about the owner that were still negotiating huge contracts to players last season that they had no intention of fulfilling. the owners agreed to play the player what the market determined was fair value, how can you now blame the players for agreeing to lucrative contracts that the very people now complaining agreed to pay them, the owners have no one to blame but themselves, they never should have agreed to the outrageous contracts in the first place, boo hoo owner, go players i say
