All we're trying to do is maybe make you realize your money can be better spent. We know you love your car which is fine. But is it worth putting $3000 worth of body work into?

Don't run crying to a moderator to close every thread because you don't like what you hear. All we are trying to do is just voice our opinion on what you want to do. sometimes you always don't hear what you want to.

All the power to ya Chunk.
Stealth TT I can understand for sure. Eclipse Spyder I can understand. But an old cavalier? I think it's a damn big waste of money to pay probably close to what you paid for the car on a paint job.

Im not trying to be rude, but those second gen j-body's are plagued with problems, and in NO way is going to last until your 30. $2000 for that car and the $3000 you want to put towards a paint job could land you something that might last you longer, and look better doing it.

Something i would assume an aspiring mechanic would have thought of...
There's nothing wrong with a 2nd gen Jbody. I personally like them better than any of the generations. I however know that they're plagued with issues as they age and didn't have the money to put into one like I would want to. SO I bought a 3rd gen as I need it to last and it's an investment. But if I had the money and the choice I would take a 2nd gen in a heartbeat. There are MANY ways to fix it so that it will last it just takes $$$ to get there. Stop bashing Ty's car I think he made a smart decision and its his car and his moeny let 'em do what he wishes to do with it. </font>[/QUOTE]He can do whatever he likes, i was just trying to offer a constructive opinion. I own a 3rd gen myself. Personally, i dont beleive its worth dumping 3k on a paintjob for a 2nd gen, the existing paint will outlast the motor/drivetrain as-is. Maybe he wasn;t aware of some of the problems... head gaskets? water pumps? his wasn;t meant to "bash" his car, as you put it.

As stated, he can do whatever he likes, but if he posts every passing thought on the internet for discussion not everything is going to be supported %100. I dont understand why some people get so bent out of shape over internet discussion forums.

Hey if chunk loves his cars style why does he need a newer one when all you need to do is rebuild sure it could cost more than a newer car but the newer cars just don’t put a smile on your face like the older cars can. (I hate the airbag speed tracking systems) I don’t drive stupid I just like to drive a little faster then the speed limit just like most people I know…. but I’m in the same boat as Chunk because I love my FCS (Second gen rx7) I need a little rust and pant work and I’m going to need a new drive train 4 years max (I’m going to upgrade it to the turbo)

hey jordyo can you close this?
My father owns a body shop. I used to work with him. I do know what im talking about. I think the people here are trying to offer help before you maybe go ahead with somehting you regret. Im a little older, and have made a mistake of two myself. Just trying to pass some of that knoledge along. I'm on my second j-body, and my g/f had a second gen herself. I watched her father spend some big money to have the head gasket replaced and the car didn;t last either way.

Take people's opinions with a grain of salt, before you start tearing up and telling me to "shut up".

I really like those cars, but Alberta weather is going to decimate any kind of 15 year old daily driver faster than hell.
