Depends on the brand and model. I think there are a few out there that are expandable to a GB. Once you get that high though is when they start moving to harddrive storage.

My first mp3 player came with 64MB of RAM and was only expandable to 128. That is why I prefer HD based players. However if you're looking for a RAM stick based mp3 player or already bought one they are usually only expandable to 128-512. Most of the 256-512MB ones are the more expensive ones. I'd check the webiste for whatever brand you bought and check there. It should have all the info there.

make sure the one you buy will work in cold weather.after it drops below 0 the screen could be very hard to see </font>[/QUOTE]Good point. However it will be in my inside pocket, and hopefully that will keep it warm enough to prevent any cold related damage.

ZUT - what I have read is that it is player dependent. Some do, and some don't. As well some that didn't now do after a firmware update (downloaded from manufactures website).

Right now it looks like it is between the Sandisck Cruzer Companion with 1 gig drive or the Rio Chiba with 1gig SD card.

Sandisk is barley cheaper, but the supports playlists....

I just bought the chiba and I love it. If your worried about the size of card it can take, just buy a couple of the max size cards, I bought 2 1 gig cards thats enough music for me anyways. my 2 cents
