I would like to hear some of your first db drag racing experience...I have heard some pretty funny stories...whats yours?

Here's mine....

Summer of 98(99?)I had this 86 Nova Htchbk...rusted..(kinda like my current Sunbird...lol)..in the back,I had this 12"Denon papercone sub mounted in a trunk size enclosure(sealed).Powering it was an Apline V12 150 watt amp...factory speakers..and...LOL...a Clarion cassette deck...LOL...

I thought it hit pretty good(yeah..right..lol)..so I entered a soundoff...sitting in the parking lot of Krazy Krazy in Winnipeg,the tensil leads let go on my sub!They were nice enough to give me my money back and went out and had the thing fixed.

A coupler monthes later,Advance Electronics hosted one..so I entered.I showed up with my system set..including my buddies Kenwood discman with the car adaptor kit.The night before I picked up some funky CD that had some decent bass notes..still don't remeber the name of the artist.....lol...

So...I rolled into my lane for qualifying...they set up the mic...closed the door...got my thumbs up...and away we went!Using the material I had,I hit a 124.6!

I didn't qualify,but I beat out a few guys with bigger systems...sounds like a recent event,huh?LOL

I didn't compete again til last year in my Sunfire..Kenwood CD deck..2 12" Sony Xplod's..the famous MTX RT2200x amp...and thats it...136.7 my personal best...

Well, since ther is really no way of burping a panasonic 401u (no rotary volume or pause button)
I just turned it up really fast and played the same not for 30 seconds. I believ it was like 42hz. I remember it clearly. THats were i first ran into Rob (Loud Brown Kicker Colt) as well. WE both had kicker gear.Man that was a fun show. [img]smile.gif[/img] Good memories.... lol

 

First time competing.. last year.. futureshop.. 1 sub class [img]smile.gif[/img]

first run pull up into the lane.. burp.. amp shuts down.. pulled about a 140 before it did tho..

doh need a higher score.. played with some stuff

second run.. pulled into the lane.. 144.5 (I think), took 3rd place..

there was a problem with that amp though.. it fried a few shows later.. and got replaced and havent had a problem since..

I was running 4-SoundStream SPL10's off a JBL1200.1, hit a whopping 145.?, good for 3rd place. Didn't have a clue what i was doing [img]graemlins/dunno.gif[/img]

 

My first time was at A&B Sound in winnipeg.

I had 4, 12" alpine R type subs, and 2, 1000 watt digital clarion amps. (with 2, 1 farad power caps)

I had them in a sealed box, and I hit 145.8 db. I should have had them in a ported box.

It should have been louder, but my amps kept quitting half way through. That because my alt was only putting out 50 amps lol. No where near enough.

 

my first would have been last year in a future shop comp. my pioneer 300 rms amp powering my pioneer grey impp sub( which only had 1 vc hooked up because the place i bought it at was dumb and i was a novice so didnt look inside the box as to how they wiered it) sealed box. i hit a 135 seomthign and was quiet proud. cause it was on music not a test tone. got 9th and didnt qualify so that kinda sucked.

second tiem was with my dd3512 powerd by a mtx6500d with a self built ported box 2.5^cubes + port.
first run hit a 145.2 good for 4th place in qualifying.
tiem for the db drag comp. second run . amp cuts out and i dont even get a burp off of it. i think it was too hot or that my power wire is to small a guage so the amp shut itself down.

each time jsut gives me more that i learn for each time. likek next comp let the ac run before the comp to keep the amps nice and cool [img]graemlins/thumb.gif[/img] and dont use a sweep use spicific notes
