What type of motor oil do you all use?
i use castrol full synthetic because it was the most expensive thing on the shelf at parts-source and i have been using it sinc ei got my car.
i drive my car really hard (on the track / drift events) so i figure it deserves to be spoiled.
plus it makes me feel better knowing that i cant put better stuff in her.
i also only use pioneer 93 octane gasoline.
if people say it's all a gimmick this premium gas/oil
i say try it and then try and go back.
one time by buddy owed me a bit of gas money and he put regular in my car... i could tell 2 seconds after starting it. i was not happy.

Gas is different from using oil. I use 94 in my car not only because it's turbo'd, because I want to and feel that it's only better to do so. And I make sure nothing but the gas I want is in there by letting no one else drive my car, IE, my dad. I know he'll fill up with 87 just because he doesn't know better. I can tell the difference myself.
We use Mobil 1 in our work vehicles. our reason is 10,000 Km between changes, protection is better.
We idle our trucks all night cause we sleep in them and havent had any problems at all due to theoil.
Heck, we have ven gone a far as 23,000 between changes on 1 truck. Our Odometers read from 250,000Km for mine up to 576,623 km for the 94.
We have had one overheat problem from blown headgasket and no other motor troubles. Lots of tranny troubles, and tires.
My Toyota used the Esso synthetic, but I have switched to Castrol GTX since the synthetic started to weep around the gaskets easier, and the valve seals are shot now.

HEy, Toy, what trucks are you guys running out in BC?
I've driven a couple rigs(don't have my licence for them) mostly Frieghtliner FL-120's, I've also drove a Volvo with a CAT twin turbo and a Mack with a Detroit V-8.
I drove them with my dad when he was driving trucks before he broke his neck. The company used to haul to the GM truck plant and the old stamping plant here in oshawa but they went by GM hours obviously so the trucks were constantly running....in all the time he worked there he never once said anything about engine trouble.

Well, how do I put this?
My boss calls them MACKS, I call the junk feeble crap that spends more time in the shop than on the road. Same goes for the 94,97,95 chevy pilot trucks.
We finally got the freightliner up , running and outfitted with the deck, winch poles etc for house moving.
The Cabovers are all middle 80`s and the bosses conventional is actually in the shop after rolling it somewhere down near Osoyoos after picking up a Moduline home in Penticton.
I am not sure what else has been going on the last 2 months or so. Been sitting home cause of the toe boo boo.
Guess I should call the boss soon.

LOL...those Chevs got automatics in them don't they?
HEHE, I don't consider them TRUCKS.....those are wussy trucks. I've drove them too.
At least you got one real truck...the Frieghtliner.
So what are you gonna do for driving? With no toes and all? I guess you'd just have to create an all new driving style for yourself eh?

Back to the whole motor oil thing...
Pennzoil 5w30 will has always been in my truck, since the day I bought it, paired with a Fram Double guard filter. Same combination was in my cutlass and never a problem.
As for the bike, ummm... ****, I just bought it... but I think it's time for an oil change!

I heard that Fram oil filter's were not that good! In an article I read comparing different oil filters it read that tests on Fram filters showed that 70-80% of them tended to circulate large amounts of dirt and other such particles back into your engine, which the filter is supposed to catch? I dunno this was about a year and a half ago that I read this! Don't know if this is still the case

I've always used Fram filters. When I change my oil, it's always clean. Trust me, I check it every time cause I can't have dirty oil...that's just not cool.
I've heard the K&N filters are pretty good....but haven't tried them...probly won't either...I'll just stick to Fram.
Actually, a friend just had his motor re-built and they used a Fram filter....so if an engine shop uses them...they must be ok.
