1st shows of the year ?
I have competed at many shows, and been in charge of putting on a few. Would a very successful show, not consider both? I think we need to keep current competitors happy, because it motivates them to better their systems, rebuild, invest in their cars and audio, and become mentors to the next upcoming group. We also need an audience, new markets to capture, and invest into the next generation of car audio enthusiasts and competitors.
Todays shows need to appeal to the masses..a tough challenge! It starts with the willingness to host an event...good on ya Defro! Then to be able to consider input for the "greater good of the event/industry/competition scene" also becomes important simply because the input is from those who are attending in one form or another.
In the end, there has to be a judgment call made. It may not make everyone happy, but hopefully pleasing both the attendee and the competitor is considered....then you have a great event!
well put greg... hope to see you sometime this yr... ps would like to see WET T-SHIRT contests.... p.S............................................... ..................WWWWWWWWWWWEEEEEEEEEEEEEETTTTTTT TTTTTTTT T-SHIRT CONTESTS.............
^^^^you my friend have no clue what your talking about and perhaps should stop before you sound any less intelligent and uniformed. have you ever hosted a show, i imagine by what your saying no.....do you have a clue what people spectating are interested in, it appears not. its not about the competitors all the time....its about the people watching whats happenening and getting them involved, watching fart cannons come up and burp for 2 seconds, as exciting as it is for the person doing it, is as boring as can possibly be imagined for the non competitors, kids for instance, its the junk and contest(i guess in your world 50" plasmas are junk)....that keeps people interested.........but i suppose your entitled to your opinion but im disappointed that you feel the way you do
All the heavy hitters already know what number theyre going to put up at a show from all their testing. I could tell the exact score Id put up for each of he top 5 clicks of volume of my vehicle, temperature outside, and whos sensor was being used (James' is 0.2 over mine at home and Norms is 0.1 over mine). I think its competitors opening up their setups and showing off what they have aswell as demoing to spectators that supports the 12 volt industry and gets people interested.
An interesting idea if space allowed would be to have a designated area for vehicles willing to demo, and those who are just there to compete. That way spectators could go from one vehicle to the other kinda like an amusement park ride
Trying to get out to more this year. It will be fun!

dont get me wrong but is opening up alot of these spl cars and showing the embarassing wiring and fire hazards that alot of them are really what we want people to think of our indusrty....i mean is duct tape really what we want newcomers and spectators to view as an example of car audio and how it has/hasnt evolved.......i apprecite the effort that these guys put forth but having done this whole show thing for quite a while its kinda embarrasing to see what some people do and i would rather they keep there cars closed

Also I have seen more kids and spectators pumped to sit in a car demoing there gear then getting involved in several of the contests held. Kids eyes get huge when they get to sit a shiney car with screens, and a sick system playin a movie or w/e they are demoing. I personally DO like the contests you put on, and well any hosts put on, its a part of the fun, I dont typically partake in them, but it does have some entertainment value to watch LOL.
Oh and for personal refference dave I WOULDN'T buy one the plasma's givin away as I dont personally care for the brand of television. I am more of a samsung or sony guy myself, not to say I wouldn't get down on the draw!
Keep in mind you look at stuff from a money, and customer point, where I look at the events, as a way for me to get together with everyone(you, alberta guys,bc guys) because as u know being in sask I dont see the competitors so its more of a gathering for me personally!
brian, have you started your build for this year already>>?
well said dave/greg. that is exactly my point in one of my last posts.spl dosent need to be messy!!! nor do you have to make it sound terrible... back in the day 140db or 134 on the pressure mic and a very very respectable install/sq score were the norm.. now its just duck tape bare wood with resin, and lots and lots of bondo.... sad... i tried to bring back some of the early yrs of quality, and pride with an install but apparently no one gave a damn nor do they care. so this is what the industy has boiled down to... not my idea of progress but what can you do, as long as dave is giving away t.v.s "GIDDEY UP"
