brian, have you started your build for this year already>>?
I agree. The big 2x shows draw all the AB and BC guys together..SPLers mostly but theres some diehard SQ competitors too. Its good to get that many brains together at one event and exchange ideas. If the events arent sanctioned I dont see many of the real heavy hitters (apart from street class guys who have more economical vehicles) coming.

Yea I started my build. I had the floor, roof, and sides of the wall done when I wrote off my truck. Dunno what the plan is now. I was talking to another competitor last night about combining forces and buying a crx together. We have a ton of gear between us so it might be an idea worth looking into.

It really depends which class you're in for SPL as far as making it look good. Typically the attention to detail in walled vehicles and extreme vehicles increases their score and is therefor worth the time. But in street classes when you build 20 boxes a year theres really no point in making them look good when it doesnt increase your score in infact will probably hurt your score if anything. The time spent making a box aesthetically pleasing could have been spent doing more testing or building more enclosures.

Theres really not much way to setup your woofers and amps in a typical street setup to have them look good while not hurting your score in any way from the loudest layout and wiring setup possible.

As far as wiring goes I spent a lot of time with my old setup getting it to look better and perform at the same time. But in the end it didnt gain me anything so was it really worth it? Theres no style points in SPL.

What happened to a little self pride in the install. There is a little old lady who rocked the spl market...that's right..Alma Gates. 40+ subs reinforced chassis, box loads of batteries and wire...and much more. The install was great! Why? In some ways, you can tell that these people have tested and done their homework and have done an install that reflects the level of workmanship for the items you can't see as well. They take pride in their work and want to show what happens when you do....174.4. True you don't have to do it...it's not required. Will your system perform the same...hard to say. (lots of variables). At the end of the day, a great number is fine. I would dare to say that a great number, great install, great homework and testing before competing, and great response at an event to spl/install/the showing of hard work might be better. My $.02.

I got nothin to say, but his instal is one of the nicer spl installs arounds, especially givin the amount of 1/0 its spl not sq, quite honestly it would be alot different if part of your score came from the looks of the install, but it doesn;t there for thats what you get. MOST spl guys rip there stereo in and out every other weekend so there no point finishing it all nice just to rip it apart and change it!
