I hate to say it, but I have been to two HOB shows, and both I have not competed in, not because the rules were not "db drag" but because the rules were not enforced, and the judges made exceptions for some, and not for others. The nature of the shows was good, but the competition was not.
Tim, if you would like some suggestions, please post up the rules that will be used for the HOB shows, and you will get a large amount of suggestions and unbiased advice on how the rules could be improved.
Personally, I would use the same types of classifications as db drag, but lean towards street setups.
I like the idea of the ultimate class, because it gives the street systems a chance to shine.
For the rest, I would like to see maybe power divisions instead of # of subs divisions, because power is generally a more equal method of determining class.
Although there may be some difference, a person can have 1200 watts on one 15" sub, 2 tens, or even 8 eights and still be within 3 db of each other. This way people with 1500 watts on a 15" subs will not be competing against people with 200 watts and a 10".
Maybe have <300 watts, 300-600, 600-1500, and >1500 watts. I think that would be more fair than going by number of subs.
The only reason db drag does not go by power is because companies would change their ratings just to cheat, but HOB is smaller and doesnt have to worry about that.
I would be glad to help out with any shows in calgary, and I am sure if you posted a couple weeks before the show started, other people from the board would help too. The judges were the worst thing from what I could see because they would not judge fairly and would not admit they were wrong. I would gladly help judge if it was required, because fair judging and firm rules will give people a better idea of what SPL is really like.

As far as it being a good thing, did I ever say it was?!?
I edited my last post four times before leaving it as three dots, because I really am sick of dragging topics through the mud.
I've had my fair share of dealing with ignorant people in the past, I really do not care to anymore. Instead of jumping to conclusions, you could do a bit of research and figure out what went wrong and how you can fix it.

Guys, be part of the solution......don't be the problem.......... </font>
You have a PM, couldn't find your email.
Is there a "Head" Judge or reginal Judges that overlook the way the HOB series plays out? I've been to a few HOB shows and it is usually the same circumstances repeating themselves over and over again. The Judging body never seems to have a clear understanding of their own rules and often are seen disscusing amongst themselves if so and so is allowed to be in such and such a class. Do they have a list of rules that they give out when someone enters their contests? I totally agree with the fact that they want to cater to the "average" SPL'er, and not the hardcore enthusiast. We all started somewhere and we all want more people to get involved. But when the big guns come rolling into these events, newbies will get discouraged and not want to get their *** handed to them. HOB should be a gateway into the realm of SPL.

I took a trip to kelowna today and went to Future Shop. Buddy says that they're most likely going to have the ciruit again.
Also went to Visions. They said they will be having three competitions this year but dates are yet to be set.

Last year I made a few good suggestions and ideas to FS about shows, and it fell on deaf ears.
So here I go again.
I am 200 percent behind FS or any other company who holds shows no matter what format, as long as they are just and fair.
My current suggestion for FS would be to pick up the dB Drag, IASCA, or MECA formats and run with it. These are established formats with commitee's in place to take care of the rules/standings, complaints etc... So if you look at it from a time standpoint, there is no time or money wasted on trying to reinvent rules already established by successfull shows.
Then FS could focus on show promotion, store sales and getting more people involved with their store in general. I know alot of people if given the chance will shop at FS alot more not only for car audio but for their other needs as well. Its a proven fact that FS has one of the best warranty systems in Canada, thats important to any competitor.
FS has alot to gain with promoting shows, its just a matter of where to focus the commitment. To me that would be introducing existing and new customers to buy the many products FS sells, be it a washing machine or a 1500 watt car audio amp.
I spoke to Wayne Harris from dB Drag on this over a year ago and he was willing to work something out if FS contacted him. The cost to run his shows is chump change compared to the amount that can be made from increased sales and new accounts with FS.
BTW: I do buy all my CD's, Computers,Camera's,Paper etc from FS I just need one more reason to add car audio to that list.
Think about it....
