SQ Monster.

Trophies are no longer mandated by IASCA. I do recommend having some trophies for Rookies. I explain!

At my shows in the past I have given out the following! framed certificates, Medals, plaques, small trophies and even gift certificates I either bought or had donated. All of these ideas went over well with all the classes except rookies. Most of the veteran guys dont want anymore trophies(I say most not all) so the other ideas worked well. However the rookies dont have any of those big trophies and they honestly do want them. I believe they like the trophies because it gives them immediate gratification that they won something they can admire and show off for all there hard work. My personall fav is the medals as they can be bought for under 10.00

Most IASCA shows I do typically start at 30.00- 50.00SQ and 15-35IDBLfor single point events and go up according to the type of event.

IASCA offers retail memberships as a way to start and any retailer is invited to attend the judges training! WHY? U dont have to be a wannabe judge to attend the training as the training explains more then just the rules. We explain all the other good stuff to like conduct, promotion, ethics, memberships, and types of shows. I have many people attend my trainings who fit this criteria.

It will take time before you feel at ease running multiple org competitions. But trust me they work!!! My attendance is higher when I run both orgs.

North American finals is never coming to Canada so we can forget that! Notice I did not mention World Finals!!!! But we definately could work towards a East/West Canada finals. This why those who want to drive far can still drive to INAC finals and those who dont can attend the two CDN Finals.

And yes joining other shows is a great way to promote SQ competitions and your business!!

Thank you for that information. Robert is going to be running my next show on June 14th. Maybe he and I need to discuss more about how this one can be done. The last one was nice, but ended up costing me $800.00 after everything was tallied up. I don't think that I saw it come back...I could be wrong.

I am an IASCA retailer. I've looked at everything that came in my pricey package. I didn't see the part where it says that there could be more training for the retailer. I will take another look. Is Robert trained in the same category and class that you are? If so, then he could train me and some others who want to put more shows on.

I talked to Robert about using all kinds of trophy substitutes, but he dissuaded me siting that people want trophies, not t-shirts, hats, buttons commemorating the event and the prize. I thought that most people would want to wear their prize instead of displaying it in their bedroom.

I should come to one of your events to see what the difference could be, take some ideas from there and change what I'm doing. Is there anything happening from the 26th through to the 31st of March? I'll be in Ontario for that period and would like to view your way.

I was also told by local promoter that it would be taboo to do more than one show, that I should stick to one, not more than that out of respect. I'm having some feelings here.

^ Being a judge has nothing to do with what class you compete in. Traditionally, IF a judge DID compete at a show they were also working, they would obviously not be allowed to judge their own car. Often judges do evaluate cars they worked on though which is often a necessity simply due to manpower. In these times, one has to trust the judge to be fair and objective. I know if I judge a car that I have worked on, I try to defer as much as possible to the other judge, if there is one.

come on carl, you made it out to like 3 shows last year, and only competed in two of them........lol

I myself am passionate about spl, and erin and I are MORE than happy to show off our cars. We actually helped out quite a few competitor this year, and bettered their scores, by telling them some so-called secrets.... I actually don't know anyone out of the local guys that aren't willing to show off their work. I know not all of us are like clay or robert and play their systems all day, but that is only to conserve energy to give us the best scores possible. We are all more than happy to play our systems after the events.....

If u judge and dont work in the industry u can compete in Rookie if u qualify under those rules. I have many judges here in EAST who judge and compete Rookie or Amateur.

AND DUKK excellent reply pretty much nailed it word for word.
