on top of that my first box. my friends dad helped us (hes a carpenter) it took him about an hour to make the box start to finish.. so justifying 4 -5 hours on a box.. your taking your sweet *** time. so your hourly rate should be lowered unless your professional enough to work at a moderate pace. thats an hour minus carpeting. but the box was cut assembled glued nailed and sealed in 1 hour. obviously glue and dap took longer to dry. this was a sealed 2 10" box.

you obviously haven't heard boxes I 've built with pvc ports, you claim they sound like sh"t, how you figure ?? I've been building and designing custom boxes for 10 + years, the only complaint I have had is that there ears hurt afterwards (LOL)

why do people think shop bought boxes are so good.. the people making them are no different then any other person who has some kind of wood working talent... and comparing labour to materials is not relivent considering if your buying the materials yourself your building the box yourself and labour costs arent an issue period. you cant fight facts.. 110 bucks for 2 sheets of MDF 3/4"thick... glue screws, dap, carpet, carpet adheisive, 4 gold plated terminals.. even wiring.. (this box is for 4 10's) he would need less material.. or a bought box 200 - 350ish... the box he will get for 200 is a basic box. 350+ for a really nice one.. justify $240 differnce.. say it takes 5 hours to make thats almost 50 bucks an hour.. its really not hard considering home depot makes cuts for 1 buck each after 5 free. post another thread here on what design u should go for. find out the measurements and get it cut. it will save you money and there are alot of knowledgeable people on this site who can tell you a good box design.

A $300+ box is out of the question so lets just stick to what I can buy.

this custom box vs a prefabricated one

damn straight you're rude. after bitching about how you wanted a yes or no answer only(if anyone can build you a good box on a welfare budget) you are now asking for advise???? go screw yourself!!

that box on your ebay link is just as prefab as any bassworx box. perhaps more. it also looks to be tuned to around 30 hz, judging by the 18" plus port legnth @ 1 1/2" wide.

good luck, it'll prolly sound like ***, and then you'll need someone to re-work the ports. have fun paying for that.

oh and to answer your question, NO....noone wants to build you a box for $100

to splpassat. I'm glad you think a carpenter knows all about boxes. I know how to slap one together in an hour too. the total hours on my box for my laser was 16 hours before I was happy with it. AND I know what I'm doing. Keep in mind that this is a NON-CARPETED spl box that ended up being over 150 dbs in a laser off a single battery, with the seats fully functioning, and on 2 type r 12's.

I don't mean to get up in your face, your pics look good, but you are giving this lazy jerk here false hope. at least you took the time to build your own. any monkey has a friend that can lend him tools, and for the amount of time he has spent on here bitching and whining, he could've already had his box built.

I'm done wasting my energy on this fool

if youve herd the saying you get back what you put into it , same goes for car audio , why not just save up 300 bucks and get a experianced person or shop to build the box , if you build a 100 dollor box your gonna have to change the box countlesss times to get it to sound half decent and that will cost you alot more then 300

calm down and breathe, I'm not even excited (LOL) all I'm saying is that don't assume, I'll guarantee if you heard boxes I have built with PVC ports you'd shake your head in disbelief, the guy your talking about ,with the 6 15's probably sounded the way it did because of more then port issues I guarantee that.
