Broken Voice Coil or Sorround?

Hi, i got a kicker l5 12" solo baric subwoofer and i think it is broken. Yesterdai i ran it on a 1600 watt pyramid amp which isnt really 1600 because pyramid is a bad company @ 4ohms. The amp i believe clipped causing my sub to make noises like its scratching or something. The noises stop after i turn it up to a high volume and then it starts to give me some bass. Also, they stop when i press down on the woofer and it works fine. What do you guys think i should do, sell it, repair it or just trash it, THANKS.

If its a damaged sorround, you could sea the damage.

A damaged voice coil usually makes scratchy noises. Its garbage. To big for a paper weight, the magnet is great for cleaning up around your drill press.
