Deck Problem

Hi guys, helping a buddy of mine out. He has a panasonic deck (older model since it can't even read MP3's, but it seems to be close to the year the MP3 decks started coming out) and the problem is his music cuts out on all his speakers, but his subs keep playing. Hes tried different cd's, replaced the harness, and it still does it. All 4 of his speakers are hooked up to the deck for power, and he has rca's runnign to the back for the amp, to power the subs. Even when he listens to the radio it cut in and out, and is staticy too, even when listening to a CD. The lights on the deck them self never change (so they don't get dim then brighten right back up with the music). Also the bass hits right on, and doesn't stammer at all, sounds great actually. My guess is the internal amp might be going? Thanks in advance.

sounds like 1 of his speakers is shorting out, check the wiring at the speakers themselves.
